PLANNING COUNCIL

The responsibilities of the Planning Council are:
 

  • Determine the size and demographics of the population of individuals with HIV/AIDS.

  • Facilitate in the development of a system of care designed to increase access and retention in primary medical care. 

  • Determine the needs of such population, with particular attention to: 

    • Individuals with HIV/AIDS who know their HIV status and are not receiving HIV/AIDS-related services. 

    • Disparities in access and services among affected sub-populations and historically underserved communities. 

    • Size and demographics of the population of individuals with HIV/AIDS

    • Demonstrated cost effectiveness and outcome effectiveness of proposed strategies and interventions.

    • Priorities of the communities with HIV/AIDS for whom the services are intended.

    • Coordination in the provisions of services to such individuals with programs for HIV prevention and for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including programs that provide comprehensive treatment for such abuse. 

    • Availability of other governmental and non-governmental resources.

  • Develop a comprehensive, integrated plan for organizing and delivering HIV/AIDS health and support services along with prevention services that is compatible with existing State or local plans regarding the provisions of HIV/AIDS-related prevention and care services. 

  • Assess the efficiency of the administrative mechanism in rapidly allocating funds to areas of greatest need within the Grant Area. 

  • Issue an annual report of committee activities.
